Persheng Warzandegan, an introduction
Persheng Warzandegan, born in Sanandaj, Iranian Kurdestan, started drawing and painting in her homeland at early age. She lived and worked in e.g. Esfahan, Tabriz and Tehran, where she had several exhibitions of her works. Since 1988 she lives in the Netherlands.
To broaden her knowledge of Western art, to explore other disciplines and to become recognised as a professional artist, Persheng Warzandegan started different studies at the AKI, the academy of fine arts in Enschede in 1990. She successfully passed examinations in drawing, painting and photography in 1995 and in sculpturing ceramics in 1996. Since 1997 she is member of the NVK, the Dutch Ceramists Association. As from 1990 works of Persheng Warzandegan have been exhibited in various galleries and musea in Europe, the United States and Japan.
Highlights
In 1999 the ceramic sculptures of Persheng Warzandegan were selected for ‘Keranova II, a new generation of ceramists’, a main event in the field of modern Dutch ceramic art. In 2005 the first of her series of 40 bronze sculptures, made in commission of the foundation Leendert Vriel, Enschede, was unveiled by Her Majesty Beatrix, Queen of The Netherlands.
